In the face of escalating global issues like climate change, biodiversity loss, land degradation, and increasing pollution, the quest for sustainable agricultural practices has become imperative. These environmental challenges not only threaten the viability of food systems but also strain water resources, necessitating innovative approaches to agriculture. Nature-based Solutions (NbS) have emerged as a promising avenue, potentially revolutionizing water-wise food production amidst these challenges. Recent studies highlight the efficacy of NbS in improving ecosystem services, thereby supporting both biodiversity and agricultural outputs.

This Research Topic aims to explore how integrating NbS into agriculture can help mitigate the adverse effects of climate change, enhance biodiversity, promote sustainable land use, and improve farm profitability. By investigating various practices such as regenerative grazing, biodiverse cover crops, and agroforestry, the research will focus on their potential to sequester carbon, optimize water usage, and boost crop resilience against climatic anomalies. Additional goals include examining the socio-economic benefits of NbS, such as enhancing farmer livelihoods and ensuring inclusive stakeholder participation in agricultural decision-making.
