Bioaerosols are a diverse and complex group of primary atmospheric organic particles, including pollen, fungal spores, bacteria, viruses, debris, and by-products of biological activity. Bioaerosol-related allergies and co-morbidities are undeniably a public health problem related to environmental exposure. An increase in incidence has been observed in the past few years and is expected to worsen in the coming decades due to climate change and urbanization. Recent studies have highlighted the growing prevalence of allergic disorders linked to bioaerosol exposure, emphasizing the need for effective monitoring and management strategies. Despite advancements in understanding the sources and impacts of bioaerosols, significant gaps remain in our knowledge, particularly regarding the interaction between bioaerosols and other environmental factors. Addressing these gaps is crucial for developing comprehensive strategies to mitigate the health impacts of bioaerosols.

This research topic aims to further understand how indoor and outdoor aeroallergens' sources, emission patterns, and concentrations influence human and animal health. Additionally, it seeks to explore how the synergy with other external exposome factors could contribute to the disease aetiology. By addressing these objectives, the research aims to provide a clearer picture of the complex interactions between bioaerosols and health, ultimately contributing to better prevention and management strategies.
