About this Research Topic
Focusing on agroforestry systems, we encourage all authors with positive experiences and/or critical views that can contribute with sound data to the necessary systemic shift to the diversification of food systems (Research papers), but also Reviews, Policy and Practical Reviews and Perspective papers that foster the societal and political debates around our current and future food systems.
We are particularly interested in papers that:
• explore the role of agroforestry systems in promoting the diversification and more importantly the transition to food sovereignty and governance of food systems.
• critically analyze the socio-economic and political debates around the use of agroforests
• explore new alternatives allowing for and rewarding diversified systems.
• report on how changes in the value chain, social organization (cooperatives, etc.), development of markets, new production strategies, rights on seeds, trees and land, etc. have favoured diversification of production systems.
• analyze from a feminist perspective, the contribution of agroforests to sustainable food systems, including any aspect of the value chain, the labor division between men and women (farm and household dynamics), or the generation of employment in the diversified systems.
• look at the contribution of traditional knowledge and cultural aspects to supporting the sustainability and diversification of agroforestry systems.
