Background

Mindfulness has become a focal point in fields such as psychology, neuroscience, and public health, particularly for its application in facilitating recovery from trauma and adverse experiences. Understanding the therapeutic potential of mindfulness is critical within rising trauma-related mental health and illness. Recent research demonstrates that mindfulness can serve as a powerful tool in regulating emotions, enhancing mental health, and fostering coping mechanisms for trauma survivors. However, amidst these promising findings, there's a need for a deeper investigation into the existing gaps in the theoretical underpinnings of mindfulness and its utility for different populations and types of traumas.
This Research Topic aims to explore the manifold ways in which mindfulness-based can be harnessed for trauma recovery. Specifically, it seeks to delve into the integration of mindfulness practices within healing processes and evaluate various theoretical approaches that support its application. Additionally, this Research Topic will investigate the accuracy and reliability of the tools used to measure mindfulness and how these tools can effectively assess their impact on trauma recovery. By addressing key questions around the validation of mindfulness, the Research Topic aspires to elucidate the mechanisms driving its efficiency in healing trauma.
Our primary goal is to expand the current understanding of mindfulness and provide evidence-based insights into practical applications that aid recovery from trauma and adverse experiences. To gather further insights into the applications of mindfulness in diverse contexts, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:
