The increasing prevalence of chronic diseases, mental health challenges, and declining quality of life among women of reproductive age (15-49 years) highlights the urgent need for effective prevention and management strategies, particularly in relation to maternal health and pregnancy outcomes for infants. Physical activity is increasingly recognized for its health benefits; however, its adoption as a therapeutic intervention within clinical settings for women remains insufficiently explored. This Research Topic aims to investigate the multifaceted role of physical activity in enhancing health outcomes specifically for women of reproductive age, with a focus on pregnancy and infant health.
We seek to compile multidisciplinary research that explores the health impacts of physical activity, including but not limited to the prevention of pregnancy-related complications and the promotion of optimal infant health outcomes. Our goal is to combine innovative studies and practical approaches, ultimately shaping evidence-based recommendations that facilitate the integration of exercise programs into clinical practice to enhance the health prospects of women during pregnancy and their infants.
Our focus on several critical areas of interest:
• Exploring the impact of physical activity on maternal and fetal health during pregnancy, including effects on labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.
• Examining the benefits of exercise in preeclampsia prevention and reducing the risk of postpartum depression and other mental health issues in women.
• Investigating how physical activity influences infant health outcomes, such as birth weight and developmental milestones.
We invite contributions that provide substantial evidence on how exercise can serve as a vital tool for health improvement, concentrating on disease prevention, effective management, and enhancement of quality of life for women of reproductive age and their infants. We encourage diverse submissions, including original research articles, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, clinical trials, case studies, and opinion pieces that offer innovative insights or practical approaches to exercise interventions. By creating a platform for multidisciplinary dialogue and research dissemination, we aim to advance understanding and clinical integration of exercise as a fundamental component of healthcare for women of reproductive age, ultimately promoting healthier outcomes for mothers and infants through informed, evidence-based practices.
