In the realm of sports science, cardiovascular health represents a critical area of study, especially considering the alarming occurrences of sudden cardiac deaths amongst athletes. Recent discussions have intensified around how regular exercise impacts both the physiological and pathological states of cardiovascular health. Despite known benefits, the complexities behind exercise-induced cardiovascular changes necessitate further scientific inquiry, as current knowledge remains rudimentary at best. Therefore, exploring the role of exercise in the pathological and physiological changes of cardiovascular disease (CVD) has high value. This topic mainly focuses on the impact of exercise on the heart function of different populations, the effects of exercise on different heart diseases, and modern detection methods such as ultrasound, CT, ECT, etc. for evaluating heart function before and after exercise. Additionally, the knowledge of the underlying mechanisms through which cardiovascular health induced by sports is still limited.

In this Research Topic, we would like to create a forum for current advances on physiological mechanisms linking sports, athletes, and CVD, as well as pathophysiological and clinical consequences of CVD induced by sports or excises. By focusing on the modifications in heart functionality due to physical activity, and utilizing advanced diagnostic tools like ultrasound, CT scans, and ECT, this research aims to push the boundaries of existing cardiovascular theories and practices.

We welcome research articles, reviews, and commentaries addressing the sophisticated interactions between exercise and cardiovascular functions, including heart failure, arrhythmia, hypertension, and coronary heart diseases. Topics include the following but not limited to:
