These materials have a wide range of applications such as tissue regeneration, drug delivery, bioimplants, and diagnostic aids. Nanoparticles show great potential to improve targeting and retention in disease sites, thereby extending the duration of therapeutic action. However, the unique properties of nanomaterials also pose potential risks, necessitating a deeper understanding of their interactions with biological systems. Current research is focused on developing strategies to monitor and mitigate these risks, ensuring the safe application of nanotechnology in medicine. Despite these advancements, there remains a need for further investigation into the processing conditions and characterization techniques that influence the efficacy and safety of nanomaterials in biomedical contexts.

This Research Topic aims to explore the advancements in nanotechnology for material processing, with a focus on their safety and biomedical applications. The primary objectives include understanding the impact of processing conditions on nanomaterial characteristics, such as dimension and morphology, and how these affect their role in drug release and clinical efficacy. Additionally, the research will explore innovative tools and techniques for characterizing nanomaterials, as well as strategies for assessing their toxicology to ensure safe usage in medical applications.
