About this Research Topic
In this Research Topic, we aim to capture the essence of the EMBO Workshop on Molecular Biology of Archaea 2024 by showcasing cutting-edge research presented at the event. Through a collection of articles, we seek to highlight key discoveries, methodologies, and conceptual advances in archaeal molecular biology, evolution, and ecology. By bringing together diverse perspectives and insights from researchers in the field, this Research Topic aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of archaeal research and stimulate further discussions and collaborations within the scientific community.
After the successful Research Topic linked to the EMBO Workshop on Molecular Biology of Archaea in 2022, we aim to continue showcasing groundbreaking research in the field. We invite all participants of the workshop, as well as researchers unable to attend, to contribute Original Research, Reviews, Mini Reviews, Perspective, and Opinion articles.
The scope of this Research Topic encompasses a broad range of topics covered during the workshop sessions, including but not limited to:
• Metabolism and Physiology
• Evolution and Ecology
• Cell Biology
• Chromosomes: Replication, Repair, and Structure
• Viruses and Mobile Genetic Elements
• Transcription, RNA Processing, and Translation
• Synthetic Biology and Biotechnology
• Science Policy (Sustainable Green Laboratory Values)
