About this Research Topic
The purpose of this Research Topic is to build an interdisciplinary communication platform focusing on the intersection of "genes, nutrition and disease", aiming to promote in-depth exploration and innovation in this cutting-edge field. The goal is to bring together the latest research results, to present new perspectives of medical big data and Mendelian randomization analysis in revealing the nutrition-gene-disease triangle, and to analyse in depth how laboratory testing techniques can help us understand the link between nutritional metabolic abnormalities and disease progression more accurately. In addition, this Research Topic will explore the potential of natural compounds in food, such as phytochemicals, as novel therapeutics and their application in regulating gene expression and improving metabolic health. By integrating the latest advances in clinical research, molecular biology, and food science and technology, we seek to provide a scientific basis for personalized nutritional intervention strategies and disease prevention strategies, and to advance nutritional science into a new era of precision medicine, contributing to the maintenance of human health.
This research topic welcomes submissions of the following article types: Original Research, Review, Mini Review, Systematic Review, Policy and Practice Reviews, Brief Research Report, Perspective, General Commentary, Case Report, Data Report, Clinical Trial, Methods, Hypothesis and Theory, Conceptual Analysis, Technology and Code
There are major topics including but not limited to:
• Genome-wide Association Study (GWAS) data to analyze nutrition-related pathogenic mechanisms.
• Mendelian randomization studies to explore the relationship between nutrition, diseases, and its potential pathogenic mechanisms.
• Application of medical big data and artificial intelligence technology in food, nutrition, and diseases
• New perspectives on nutrition-related pathogenic mechanisms.
• Effects of nutritional factors and natural compounds on gene expression, metabolic pathways, and disease risk.
• Biological effects of active ingredients in natural compounds and their mechanisms in the prevention and treatment of specific diseases.
Manuscripts must clearly show relevance to food and human nutrition. Studies relating to animal nutrition, livestock production, plant & crop science, and ethnopharmacology, as well as studies focused purely on physiology or medicine without emphasis on nutrition are not suitable for publication in this journal. Manuscripts solely reporting bibliometric analyses will not be considered. Papers reporting findings from Mendelian Randomisation studies need to be accompanied by a completed MR strobe checklist.
