The 2024 Voice Artificial Intelligence Symposium, presented by the Bridge2AI-Voice Consortium, took place on May 1st and May 2nd in Tampa, Florida. Funded by the NIH Common Fund, the Bridge2AI Program aims to propel scientific discovery in biomedicine through the development of standardized and ethically sourced large-scale datasets that are AI-ready. To this end, Bridge2AI-Voice is generating a FAIR and CARE, AI-ready, voice dataset to further scientific discovery in the field of voice biomarkers. The Voice AI Symposium is an annual event hosted by the Bridge2AI-Voice Consortium that unites diverse stakeholders in the field of voice biomarkers to foster meaningful discussions, collaboration, and provide educational training on the use of voice AI in healthcare.

The 2024 Voice AI Symposium featured an innovative and interactive agenda with the goal of highlighting diverse stakeholder voices, including researchers, academics, startups, industry representatives, as well as patient voices. The 2-day event included four interactive panel sessions, five workshops, two keynote speeches, a poster competition, a patient challenge competition, and a startup tech fair.

Four interactive expert panels covered a range of relevant topics including a discussion of the current state and future of voice AI, specific use cases within varying diagnoses, ethical considerations of voice AI, and breaking silos to foster innovation in the field. Each panel consisted of a moderated discussion, followed by live interactive polls with attendees which generated lively and meaningful conversations.

Two keynote speeches also took place from Dr. Rupal Patel of Northeastern University, and Dr. Nicholson Price of the University of Michigan. Keynote speeches highlighted the potential for future use of voice AI, as well as legal and regulatory concerns.
The 2024 Voice AI Symposium also featured five sponsored educational workshops, allowing attendees an in-depth look at specific areas of interest in voice biomarker research such as signal processing, implementation of voice biomarkers, and a look at the Brdige2AI-Voice Protocols.
