About this Research Topic
This Research Topic aims to spark discussion around some of the exciting developing areas of the Applied Genetic Epidemiology field, including molecular and cellular biology, genetics and disease, and genetics studies in physiology. This field is continuously evolving; therefore, we are seeking to understand developments and perspectives on themes represented by the articles that have attracted attention throughout the year.
The chosen manuscripts are:
• Genotype-by-socioeconomic status interaction influences heart disease risk scores and carotid artery thickness in Mexican Americans: the predominant role of education in comparison to household income and socioeconomic index
• Gene-educational attainment interactions in a multi-population genome-wide meta-analysis identify novel lipid loci.
• Variants in JAZF1 are associated with asthma, type 2 diabetes, and height in the United Kingdom biobank population.
• Genetic profile in genes associated with muscle injuries and injury etiology in professional soccer players
We welcome Opinions, Perspectives, Hypotheses and Theory, or Mini-Review article types on themes such as:
• Molecular aspects of cellular physiology
• Development of genetics in diseases
• Genetics of physiology
Please note, only relevant papers that add a significant contribution to the discussion articles will be considered.
Keywords: phenotypes, common chronic diseases, rare congenital abnormalities, quantitative traits, gene or variant discovery, heritability estimates, association, linkage, fine-mapping, epigenetic and/or environmental modifiers, pleiotropy
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
