About this Research Topic
Research on the design and therapeutic application of nanopharmaceutical materials is being expeditious. This includes nano drug carriers, nano drug delivery systems, comprehensive preparation techniques, pharmacokinetics, safety, efficacy evaluation, and clinical applications of nanopharmaceutical materials. With continuous research and innovation, the safety, stability, and efficacy of nanopharmaceutical materials will keep improving. Yet, the development is confronted with numerous challenges like technical matters related to preparation, controlled release, stability, concerns regarding biosafety, toxicity and immune response, high preparation costs, large scale production difficulties, and regulatory restrictions varying across countries. Collaboration across various fields is necessary.
The goal of this Research Topic is to gather and disseminate the latest contributions and advancements in nanopharmaceutical materials, which includes natural and synthetic pharmaceutical materials refined by modern technology such as nanotechnology.
An increasing number of researchers are leading efforts in the domain of nanopharmaceutical materials design and therapeutic application. This includes original research articles, reviews, and mini-reviews on, but not limited to, the following topics:
•Innovative nanopharmaceutical materials emphasizing design, synthesis, and characterizations for therapeutic application.
•Stimuli-responsive nano-biomedical materials functioning as drug carriers.
•Nano-drugs or nanocarriers in pharmacy including polymer drug carriers, drug release, targeted therapy, and drug metabolism.
•Natural drugs for therapeutic application and structural modification of natural pharmaceutical products.
•Therapeutic biomaterials facilitating efficient delivery of therapeutic agents such as drugs, genes, and proteins.
•Research, policy, and trends related to the design and therapeutic applications of nano-biomedical materials.
•Polymers, biopolymers, nanocomposites, polymer micelles, nano micelles, polymer hydrogels, nanogels, polymersomes, and liposomes employed as drugs or drug carriers for disease therapy.
