The field of brain health and disease is undergoing a transformative phase, driven by advancements in omic technologies and integrative methods. Rapidly developing sequencing technologies, coupled with reduced costs, have enabled unprecedented insights into the physiological and molecular mechanisms underlying brain health and disease. The advent of telomere-to-telomere sequencing and pan-omics approaches has opened new avenues for understanding neurodegeneration, psycho-behavioral conditions, and brain development disorders. Despite these advancements, significant gaps remain in our understanding of the complex interactions between genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that influence brain health. Current research is increasingly focusing on the roles of brain evolution, epigenetics, and the mobile genome in neuronal protein expression. Additionally, factors such as inflammation, aging, infection, pollution, nutrition, and the gut-brain axis are recognized as critical influencers of central and peripheral nervous system health. The challenge lies in developing new statistical methodologies and bioinformatics tools to manage and interpret the vast data generated, thereby providing a comprehensive view of brain health and disease.

This research topic aims to encompass a wide array of studies and perspectives on brain health and disease. The primary objective is to explore the functional, evolutionary, molecular, and genetic dimensions of brain health, with a focus on innovative statistical and methodological approaches. We seek to address key questions regarding the interactions between genetic and environmental factors, the role of the mobile genome, and the impact of lifestyle factors on brain health.
