About this Research Topic
Overall, these advances in technologies and engineering tools to study animal models shed light on fundamental questions about brain function, cognition, and behavior. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation, scientists are now better positioned than before to unravel the mysteries of the brain and pave the way for new therapeutic interventions for neurological and psychiatric disorders.
The aim of the current research topic is to cover promising, recent, and novel technologies and engineering tools for preclinical research using animal models in neuroscience. Areas to be covered in this Research Topic may include, but are not limited to:
• Animal to machine interfaces
• Micro- and nano- devices and systems to study animal brain and behavior
• Micro- Nano technologies and engineering tools for examining properties of nervous systems of animal models
• Novel materials for brain interfaces
• Microfabrication and Nanotechnology-based tools for neuroscience research in animal models
• Miniaturized and/or integrated systems, such as micro electrode arrays, to monitor neural activity in animal models
Keywords: Neural engineering, Brain interfaces, Neurosurgery, Neuroimaging, Behavioral studies, animal models
