About this Research Topic
This research topic aims to fill the gap in the structural modification of natural products and the detection of the activity of modified components. By modifying the structure and improving the biological activity and properties of natural products, the application potential of natural products could be enhanced. Innovative or improved detection methods for their active ingredients can provide a more comprehensive picture of the activity of natural products. At the same time, through the study of the structure of natural ingredients and their biological activities, it is helpful to better understand the structure and activity relationship and promote the development of functional foods.
We welcome submissions in the following aspects:
- Structural modification of phytochemicals to improve their biological activities, such as antioxidant activity, anti-inflammatory activity, antibacterial activity, and hypoglycemic activity.
- Structural modification of traditional natural products to generate new products for the development of functional foods.
- Design a new route of structural modification that is more convenient and inexpensive.
- New or improved detection methods for the activity of natural products.
- Improved experimental layouts using different analytical approaches: HPLC, GC, IR, X-RAY, SEM, NMR, and so on.
Keywords: phytochemicals, chemical structure, biological activity, activity evaluation, natural product
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
