About this Research Topic
To deepen the understanding of the interactions between metabolism and immunity, the following aspects need to be addressed:
1. The conservativity and adaptability of the immune system and metabolism within the context of biological evolution. 2. Functional alterations in the metabolic profile and immune ecosystem during pathogenesis, including in a variety of conditions such as cancers and autoimmune diseases. 3. The molecular mechanisms underlying pathogen-attributed diseases and potential therapeutic targets. 4. The development of new methodologies and resources, including experimental approaches, bioinformatics, organoid or animal models, etc.
This Research Topic aims to compile original research, reviews, systematic reviews, mini-reviews, perspective pieces, case reports, abstracts, and data reports focused on the trend and recent advancements in the knowledge of the interplay between Metabolism and Immunity. Potential topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Evolutionary characteristics of immunity and metabolism.
• The pathological roles of immunity and metabolism and their molecular mechanisms.
• How pathogenic infections and microbiota influence the host’s immunity and metabolism.
• The therapeutic or prognostic significance of metabolic and immune markers.
• The application of new model organisms and bioinformatics methods in the study of immunity and metabolism.
