About this Research Topic
There is an urgent need to identify strategies to protect the mental health and well-being of young people against these turbulent global crises. The identification of strategies focused on building resilience necessitates the meaningful engagement of young people in such research. This will enhance ecological validity and translation of findings into practice as well as empower young people to effect positive change that is meaningful to them.
The aim of this research topic is to explore the currency of known risk and resilience factors associated with the mental health and well-being of young people in the current global context and to identify new emerging factors. The second aim is to report on the engagement of young people in such research studies and the development of strategies to promote resilience in this population.
We welcome Original, Observations and Review Studies on the following topics: identification of contemporary risk factors to mental health and well-being of young people; development and evaluation of strategies that reduce risk and/or increase resilience of this vulnerable population; youth collaboration and empowerment in research.
