This research topic aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest evidence, highlight ongoing debates, and underscore the necessity for continued exploration in this dynamic field.

This research topic aims to promote the development of innovative and high-quality research in genetic systems and circuit design. Specifically, it seeks to answer key questions regarding the optimization of synthetic gene regulatory networks, the integration of novel synthetic biology tools, and the application of these networks in various biotechnological and biomedical contexts.
