Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading causes of mortality and morbidity worldwide, posing significant health and economic challenges. Pharmacological interventions have made substantial strides in managing these diseases through the development of various drugs, including antiplatelet agents, anticoagulants, cholesterol-lowering medications, and antihypertensives. Despite these advancements, these medications often come with adverse effects such as bleeding, skin necrosis, hypotension, dizziness, and arrhythmias. Consequently, there remains an urgent need for the development of more effective and safer therapeutic options. Recent studies have explored diverse mechanisms of drug action, cell signaling pathways, and the roles of different cell types in CVDs. However, gaps persist in our understanding of the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of these diseases, necessitating further research to address these unmet medical needs.

This research topic aims to advance the field of cardiovascular pharmacology by exploring novel therapeutic targets, understanding the molecular and physiological effects of drugs, and developing innovative diagnostic and monitoring methods. Specific objectives include identifying new drug targets, elucidating the roles of various cell types in drug action, and assessing the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of new pharmacological interventions. Additionally, the research will investigate pharmacokinetics, including drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME), to optimize therapeutic outcomes.
