About this Research Topic
As one of the most common health problems, orthopaedic disorders seriously affect the life quality of patients and cause economic burdens to their families. Under the unremitting efforts of biologists, clinicians, materials scientists, engineers and other researchers around the world, increasing innovative medical technologies have been proposed to improve the clinical efficacy of patients. The presented research initiative is to underly the mechanisms on the regulation of cellular behavior associated with biomaterials and implanted devices, especially for biodegradable materials. Peri-implant bone responses, electromagnetic field therapies, as well as the cellular and molecular mechanisms are focused. This research topic covers the scope from fundamental scientific exploration to practical clinical translational research. In summary, this topic will help researchers to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the relationship between biomaterials and cellular regulation, which indicates the further application in the development of novel therapies in orthopaedic.
The goal of this Research Topic is to enhance understanding in the field of promoting orthopaedic-related regeneration and rehabilitation strategies. We actively encourage researchers to submit Original Research, Review, and Perspective articles to advance the field. We would be interested in manuscripts falling into one of the following categories but not limited to:
1. Exploration of the roles of stem cells and/or biomaterials in bone healing, from proliferation to differentiation of stem cells.
2. Examination of the interactions between biomaterials and/or osteoblasts, spanning from biocompatibility to osteogenic biological functions.
3. Connection and influence mechanisms of biomaterials and/or endothelial cells in the field of angiogenesis and osteogenesis, including the activation, migration, and tube formation ability of endothelial cells.
4. To explore the role of biomaterials in regulating immune cells in orthopaedic, with focus to cellular and molecular mechanisms.
5. Applications of innovative medical strategies and drugs within orthopedic rehabilitation.
