Background

Recently, the incidence of zoonoses has shown a global upward trend. There are more than 60 emerging infectious diseases and re-emerging infectious diseases worldwide, more than half of which are zoonotic. Drugs play a pivotal role in both the treatment and prevention of zoonoses. Through the research and analysis of the mechanisms and targets of viral infection, effective and safe drugs can be designed. For instance, bioinformatics has been employed to analyze genomes, proteomes, and metabolomes, enabling the identification of disease and drug targets through high-throughput technology. This approach has led to the discovery of numerous natural compounds with anti-zoonotic properties.

By studying the relationship between medications and disease targets, we can uncover the mechanisms of action underlying these treatments. This knowledge provides valuable guidance for the precise design and application of drugs. Additionally, delving deeper into the mechanisms of action of screened drugs on diseases can shed light on combination drug therapies and help elucidate the therapeutic mechanisms of active ingredients at the biomolecular level.

In conclusion, continuous development in understanding the pathogenesis of zoonoses and the mechanisms of action of drugs is essential. This approach allows us to gain a comprehensive understanding of the intricate interactions between medications, diseases, and biological systems. By examining human organs, diseases, metabolic pathways, and target proteins from multiple perspectives, we can make significant progress in combating zoonotic diseases.

This Research Topic focuses on the mechanisms of zoonoses and therapeutic drugs. Zoonoses encompass viral diseases, bacterial diseases, and other zoonotic diseases. The drugs under investigation include natural molecules, synthetic drugs, antibodies, and other types of medications. The primary objective of this Research Topic is to discover more effective drugs for zoonoses and study the interaction mechanisms between therapeutic drugs and zoonotic diseases.
