About this Research Topic
The primary goal of this Research Topic is to unravel the potential of EVs from diverse sources in revolutionizing disease management and treatment strategies. By focusing on EVs' unique cargo and functions derived from various origins, we aim to investigate their role in targeted drug delivery, diagnostic biomarkers, and innovative therapies. We strive to showcase cutting-edge research that explores the applications of EVs in different disease contexts, including cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and autoimmune conditions. Moreover, we aim to emphasize the significance of understanding source-specific cargo for tailored treatments, highlighting regenerative medicine, RNA therapeutics, and personalized medicine strategies. Through this initiative, we seek to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among scientists, clinicians, and researchers. By unraveling the distinctive properties of EVs and their functions, we aim to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of EV-based therapies.
This Research Topic seeks contributions exploring the diverse applications of extracellular vesicles (EVs) from multiple sources in disease intervention. We encourage submissions that delve into EVs' roles but not limited to the following themes:
• EVs as natural drug delivery vehicles, emphasizing targeted therapy, minimized side effects, and enhanced treatment precision.
• Specific themes of interest include innovative therapies in cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and autoimmune conditions, with a focus on gene-based treatments and immunomodulation techniques.
• The diagnostic utility of EVs as biomarkers for early disease diagnosis, progression monitoring, and therapeutic response assessment.
• The advancements in isolating, characterizing, and engineering EVs from various sources, including but not limited to plants, transgenic cell lines, and emerging stem cell technologies.
We welcome original research, reviews, and perspectives shedding light on the distinctive properties of EVs derived from diverse sources. The aim is to unravel novel avenues for disease intervention and therapy development. Manuscripts promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange are highly valued.
