About this Research Topic
At present, there is no epidemiological investigation and analysis of eye trauma involving multiple regions in different countries. We hope that this Research Topic can provide more comprehensive epidemiological data on eye trauma in various areas for further research and summarize the epidemic characteristics of eye trauma from different perspectives.
In this Research Topic, we seek to summarize the information on eye trauma inpatients provided by major eye trauma treatment units worldwide and conduct statistical analysis based on demographic characteristics, case distribution, and trauma-related characteristics. In particular, we will pay more attention to the prevalence of eye trauma among vulnerable groups, such as minors, women, and the elderly, in order to develop preventive measures. We will also conduct in-depth discussions on the characteristics of eye trauma in special populations, eye trauma-related complications, effective prevention and control strategies, the treatment of eye trauma, and visual rehabilitation treatment after eye trauma. This aims to provide more objective reference data for ophthalmologists in the prevention and treatment of eye trauma.
