Low-dimensional materials are one of the focus of nanotechnology. Confining electrons in one or more dimensions brings opportunities to discover novel properties that can be understood by quantum mechanics, optoelectronics and thermodynamics in confining nanostructures. The synthesis of these materials is one of the main challenges in terms of reproducibility and increasing the scale of production. Some synthetic methods can be used to explore and manipulate materials to obtain novel derived structures with a combination of properties of the precursos. One example is the manipulation of carbon nanotubes by opening the wall and obtaining nanotubes with branched graphene sheets. This procedure creates graphene-like structures along the nanotube wall, mixing 1D and 2D confinement properties.

The main objective of this Research Topic is to present results on the deposition, coating, and growth control of 0D, 1D and 2D carbon materials. This Research Topic is an opportunity to publish findings on the synthesis of low-dimensionalcor derivative carbon materials. The focus of contributions can be on methods, conditions, substrates, precursor, treatment, and analysis. Treatment represents a high-level process for low-dimensional materials, where it is possible to synthesize materials with combined conditions of two or more low-dimensional.

Contributions are accepted on the growth and manipulation of low-dimensional carbon materials, with the following scope: Synthesis (chemical or physical exfoliation or vapor deposition; chemical modifications); novel methods for the analysis of new materials; characterization and control method. We welcome Original Research, Review, Mini Review and Perspective articles on themes including, but not limited to, synthesis and characterization of:

- Graphene by CVD or exfoliation;
- Carbon Nanotube by CVD;
- Oxidized materials synthesis;
- Nanofiber or Fullerenes synthesis;
- Derivative materials of above;
- Synthesis mechanisms and characterization.
