About this Research Topic
Similar to other crops, spices are susceptible to microbial interactions. Microorganisms may be introduced to the spices during growth and development or during subsequent processes such as collection, processing, storage, and marketing. This research topic aims to attract relevant, cutting-edge studies focused on deciphering and highlighting potential microbes associated with spices.
We invite researchers to submit manuscripts to this Research Topic that focus on microbes and pathogens affecting spice crops, covering aspects such as their detection, genetic diversity, evolution, and management strategies. Specifically, we are interested in papers addressing the following topics:
- Quasispecis of pathogen that infect spice crops.
- Development of sensitive detection techniques for these microbes.
- Recombination and reassortment mechanisms influencing microbial diversity.
- Genetic evolutionary bottlenecks of microbes associated with spice crops.
- Traditional and new management strategies.

Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
