About this Research Topic
This Research Topic aims to explore the multifaceted roles of extracellular vesicles and miRNAs in nutrition. Specifically, it seeks to answer questions related to how EVs and miRNAs can be used as biomarkers for nutritional status, how they influence the gut microbiota, and how they can be leveraged for the development of functional foods. The Topic will also test hypotheses regarding the regulation of miRNA expression by dietary components and the potential of EVs and miRNAs to modulate immune responses and metabolic pathways.
To gather further insights into the complex interactions between extracellular vesicles, miRNAs, and nutrition, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:
• Extracellular vesicles-miRNAs as biomarkers for nutritional status.
• Extracellular vesicles in food-derived bioactive compounds.
• Extracellular vesicles and miRNAs in nutritional immunology.
• Dietary regulation of miRNA expression via extracellular vesicles.
• miRNAs and gut microbiota.
• Regulation of appetite and satiety by extracellular vesicles-miRNAs.
• Regulation of miRNAs by food processing.
• Functional foods and extracellular vesicles and miRNAs.
• Milk-derived extracellular vesicles and miRNAs.
• Bioavailability of dietary miRNAs.
