About this Research Topic
One critical aspect contributing to immunosenescence is bone marrow aging, which exerts substantial influence over the production and functionality of immune cells, subsequently exerting adverse effects on the central nervous system. However, the mechanisms underlying how bone marrow aging interplays with immunosenescence and attributes to the onset and progression of neurological diseases remain largely unclear.
The primary objective is to elucidate the underlying mechanisms through which bone marrow aging influences the occurrence and progression of immunosenescence, and subsequently, how immunosenescence contributes to the pathogenesis of neurological diseases. By achieving this goal, we aim to provide a deeper understanding of the complex interplay between these processes, and develop targeted interventions and therapeutic strategies to mitigate the impact of immunosenescence on neurological health in aging populations. Recent advances in genomics, proteomics, and single-cell sequencing can help explore cellular and molecular changes associated with these processes. Advanced animal models can be utilized to mimic bone marrow aging and immunosenescence.
Recent advances in neuroimaging, biomarker identification, and data analysis can provide valuable insights into these processes in patients. Immunomodulatory therapies may be utilized as interventions targeting immunosenescence and its impact on neurological diseases.
