About this Research Topic
The number of drug resistant fungal strains is increasing over the last years, especially azol-resistance. Furthermore, multidrug resistant strains like Candida auris appeared on the landscape. To increase the treatment options, the discovery of new molecular targets is of importance as well as resistance factors of fungal pathogens. Furthermore, a deeper understanding of virulence factors of the pathogens and thereby especially their immune evasion strategies during interaction with the host are an urgent topic that needs to be addressed.
The scope of this research is to publish recent developments in invasive fungal infection. Original research articles, reviews, and minireviews on the following potential topics are invited:
• novel drug targets
• virulence factors
• resistance factors
• immune evasion strategies
• other related topics
Keywords: invasive fungal infections, infection biology, antifungal drug discovery, resistance mechanisms, virulence factors, immunmodulation
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
