About this Research Topic
Whilst boundaryless workplace model provides a plethora of potential benefits like increased productivity, improved work-life balance, increased employee satisfaction and retention, the holistic well-being and health of employees is becoming an increasingly important concern for organizations. For example, the seamless integration of work and life means that the line that demarcate professional and private times becomes blurry. This, in turn, is likely to precipitate disengagement, impacting mental and emotional wellbeing. Consequently, the imperative to address employee well-being and health assumes paramount importance for forward-looking organizations.
Given this context, our objective is to furnish papers that enhance our knowledge of the diverse challenges confronted by employees and organizations within the evolving boundaryless workplace milieu. This knowledge encompasses detrimental influences on employee well-being and health, as well as the pivotal "enabling factors" that foster their amelioration. In essence, our aim is to advance our understanding of this subject and to seek solutions that proactively tackle the emergent concerns surrounding employee well-being and health in a boundaryless workplace. This pursuit ensures the optimal utilization of the benefits offered by this novel paradigm while upholding the holistic welfare of the workforce.
We encourage transparent and scientifically valid research that encompasses the following themes:
• Assessing and Defining the Boundaryless Workplace Construct: The investigation of the boundaryless workplace construct is welcomed.
• Identifying Organizational and Team/Leadership Antecedents: Delve into the organizational and team/leadership factors that act as antecedents impacting employee well-being and health within boundaryless workplaces.
• Exploring Boundary Violations Theory: Apply boundary violations theory as a theoretical lens to understand the well-being and health of employees engaged in remote work scenarios.
• Scrutinizing Emotional Demands and Employee Well-being: Investigate the emotional demands and their association with employee well-being within the boundaryless workplace context.
• Consolidating and Comparing Theoretical Perspectives: Engage in the consolidation and comparative analysis of organizational theories to the boundaryless workplace, highlighting challenges and discrepancies compared to the conventional workplace.
• Aggregating Best Practices for Enhanced Well-being: 1) what are best practices (e.g., organizational and leadership strategies) that effectively contribute to enhancing employee well-being and health in boundaryless work settings; 2) what is the right balance for hybrid working; 3) what is the blueprint for working effectively in organizational hybrid environments;
We invite submissions employing a variety of research methodologies, including both quantitative and qualitative approaches, as well as conceptual papers and systematic literature reviews. We emphasise the value a study brings to the broader community and the rigour with which the research has been conducted.
