About this Research Topic
While nano-(bio)sensors hold immense potential, several obstacles hinder their seamless integration into practical applications. These challenges include: optimizing sensor for accurate, real-time monitoring, maintaining long-term stability and bioactivity of the bio-recognition elements, ensuring selectivity amidst complex sample matrices, and optimizing sensor miniaturization without compromising sensitivity. To address these challenges, researchers are exploring various strategies, such as using advanced nanomaterials to enhance sensitivity and signal transduction, improving stability through surface modifications, integrating microfluidics for efficient sample handling, and utilizing smartphone-based readout systems for portable on-site analysis.
The main objective of this Research Topic is to bring together cutting-edge (bio)sensing technologies and pioneering detection approaches for on-site health monitoring, food safety and quality testing, and tracking environmental contamination with newfound effectiveness.
