About this Research Topic
Plant microbial-assisted breeding refers to the breeding work according to the characteristics of plant disease occurrence, the screening germplasm resources for resistance, and the study the law of resistance heredity, mining resistance genes and breeding resistant varieties. The application of disease-resistant varieties in agricultural production has different advantages, but mainly in reducing the purchase cost of pesticides, the labor costs caused by pesticides treated, the environmental pollution and the pesticide residues in plant products.
Plant diseases caused by microorganisms are divided into bacterial diseases, fungal diseases and viral diseases, there are thousands of these diseases, which seriously affect the yield and quality of crops. Breeding resistant varieties is the most direct measure to deal with these microbial diseases. To carry out disease resistance breeding, it is necessary to first understand the occurrence and inheritance of microbial diseases, secondly to have disease-resistant germplasm resources, and thirdly to know the disease-resistant genes, and finally to select disease-resistant varieties.
This Research Topic mainly calls for the latest research progress in the field of plant disease resistance breeding, and welcomes the experts and scholars engaged in the mining of plant disease resistance germplasm resources, identification of disease resistance genes, analysis of disease resistance inheritance rules and breeding of disease resistance varieties to contribute. We believe that this collection can provide certain references for the research of plant disease resistance breeding.
We invite researchers to contribute original research articles, reviews, and reports that explore innovative strategies, recent advances, and future directions within the following thematic areas:
1. Collection and mining of disease resistance germplasm resources.
2. Identification of plant disease resistance and the analysis of inheritance laws.
3. Mining and identification of plant disease resistance genes.
4. Disease-resistant plant new varieties breeding.
5. Interaction of plants with weeds and the environment.
