About this Research Topic
This Research Topic will primarily deal with (i) the design of porous materials and with the control of pore morphology, geometry and distribution, as well as with (ii) tailorable surface chemistries for enhanced, facilitated or controlled interactions at the molecular level with resources or contaminants in solutions. Among the different technological areas of interests, separation (filtration membranes, electrodialysis, distillation), capture (capacitive deionisation, surface diffusion, surface adsorption, bulk diffusion, surface coordination and precipitation), and selective catalysis towards advanced reactor designs. The range of materials of interest spans from carbon, metal and metal oxides, polymers and associated meta and composite materials. Multi-disciplinary studies, involving molecular dynamics and physical experimental data sets will be particularly welcome.
Keywords: porous materials, surface interactions, solubility, membranes, adsorbents, thin films, nano-structured materials
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
