Organic synthesis is a cornerstone of medicinal chemistry, natural product chemistry, and material chemistry. Traditional organic reactions often rely on low volatile solvents and hazardous chemicals, leading to the generation of toxic waste products and environmental pollutants. This presents a significant challenge for organic chemists who aim to conduct reactions with minimal negative environmental impact. Over the past two decades, organic photochemistry has emerged as a pivotal tool in organic synthesis, offering a means to construct complex organic systems, including asymmetric synthesis, while minimizing the use of hazardous chemicals and reducing the formation of side products. Despite these advancements, there remains a need for further exploration and optimization of light-induced transformations to fully harness their potential and address existing gaps in the field.

This research topic aims to explore the recent advances in photo-induced organic photochemical reactions, with a particular focus on photoredox catalysis. The primary objective is to investigate how light energy can be harnessed to achieve organic reactions with minimal environmental impact. Specific questions include: What are the most effective photo-catalysts for various organic transformations? How can the efficiency and selectivity of these reactions be improved? What are the underlying mechanisms that govern these light-induced processes? By addressing these questions, the research aims to contribute to the development of greener and more sustainable organic synthesis methods.

To gather further insights into the boundaries of light-induced transformations in organic photochemistry, we welcome articles addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:
- Organic photochemical reactions involving metal-based photo-catalysts
- Organic photochemical reactions involving organic dyes-based photo-catalysts
- Organic photochemical reactions involving blue LEDs
- Organic photochemical reactions involving visible light

This thematic issue seeks to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of organic photochemistry, highlighting innovative approaches and identifying areas for future research.
