With the rapid development of technologies such as big data, blockchain, and AI, we have quickly entered the digital era. We interact with, and within, a digitalized society (e.g., devices and platforms) on an everyday basis. Accordingly, during interactions, new decision-making phenomena, processes, and problems are constantly emerging. The advanced neuroscientific techniques allow us to explore the dynamic of how these new challenges possible, including psychophysiological measurement techniques such as skin conductance rate (SCR), electrocardiogram (EKG), and eye-tracking, as well as brain imaging techniques such as electroencephalography (EEG), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), positron emission tomography (PET), magnetoencephalography (MEG), and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS).
As a powerful influential medium, the digitalized environment has generated impactful changes in decision-making processes. This Research Topic seeks to unravel how the digital environment has affected individual decision-making behaviors, in both positive and negative ways. We also delve into exploring how advanced neuroscientific techniques contribute to the underlying processing mechanisms behind individual decision-making behavior in interaction with digital society.
