About this Research Topic
The last years have seen great progress in the field of Stem Cell Biology particularly related to: (i) their role in tissue regeneration and repair, (ii) the mechanisms governing stem cell specification and differentiation, and (iii) the development of novel cell-based therapies.
In this Research Topic we will discuss: (i) the current advances in stem cell biology, particularly how stem cells are regulated in health and disease, (ii) technologies capable of modulating stem cell fate, particularly in the elderly, and (iii) literacy, ethics and policies related to translational research and regenerative medicine.
This Research Topic addresses the recent advances, impact, perspectives, and relevant technologies to be potentially implementable in stem cell research and regenerative medicine arising from the discussions and ideas in the meeting. We welcome contributions in the form of full-length original research articles, methods papers and reviews, as well as mini-reviews, perspectives and opinion papers.
Keywords: stem cells, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, cell-material interaction, bioengineering and translational research
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
