About this Research Topic
Water makes life possible on Earth. Extensive water contamination across the globe is jeopardizing our health, aquatic life, and soil. Keeping the urgent need to attempt and resolve this crucial problem, the major thrust of this special issue is to emphasize the area of distribution & detection of diverse environmental contaminants, and their toxicity. In addition to this, novel technologies emphasizing wastewater treatment along with the fate of contaminants and waste to value require more insight and depth knowledge.
This Research Topic is intended as a state-of-the-art resource for researchers, scholars, and decision-makers working on emerging technologies related to wastewater treatment using biological, chemical, or physical methods. In addition to this, the treatment process should involve the principles of the resource and energy recovery and circular economy model. Further, manuscripts discussing wastewater treatment technologies contributing towards water reuse and increasing water availability in a cost-effective way are highly encouraged. Papers submitted to this Research Topic must report a significant advancement in the theory, fundamental understanding, practice, or application of water research, management, engineering, or technology, within the following areas:
• Storm-water management and reclamation
• Municipal and industrial wastewater treatment and resource recovery
• Drinking water security
• Emerging bio-chemical water treatment and reuse technologies
• Water-energy nexus for circular economy
• Groundwater remediation (water quantity and quality)
Keywords: Wastewater, Remediation, Emerging contaminants, Water-energy
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
