About this Research Topic
One of the main factors contributing to food waste is a lack of awareness surrounding proper food waste management. Many individuals remain unaware of the extent of the problem and are ignorant of its adverse environmental and societal impacts. Additionally, people may lack knowledge on how to appropriately store and prepare food to minimize waste, as well as creative ways to utilize leftovers. Raising awareness about food waste and providing education on waste reduction methods can greatly contribute to combating this issue.
While progress has undoubtedly been made in developing practical solutions for managing household food waste, there is still much work to be done. Existing solutions may not be widely implemented or accessible to everyone. Some solutions may not be feasible in specific situations or require substantial resources for implementation. Nonetheless, promising strategies such as innovative packaging and preservation methods, composting programs, and food recovery initiatives are being developed. Continued investment in research and development is crucial to finding practical and widely applicable solutions.
There are numerous ways to reduce household food waste, starting with meticulous meal planning and purchasing only necessary ingredients. Proper food storage is also essential to prevent premature spoilage, as separating fruits and vegetables can help slow down their ripening process. Recent advancements in utilizing household waste for food preservation have shown promise, making it imperative to collect literature on this topic. Therefore, we invite authors to submit original research articles, reviews, brief research reports, and case studies that can enhance our understanding of household waste utilization for food preservation.
Possible areas of focus may include, but are not limited to:
• Providing an overview of household waste and the various types of food waste
• Examining traditional methods for managing household waste
• Exploring recent trends in managing household waste
• Investigating the use of household waste powder in different food products
• Evaluating the potential use of household waste as an additive material
• Exploring the utilization of household waste as a coating material
By delving deeper into these topics, we aim to advance our knowledge and pave the way for effective strategies and solutions in the realm of household food waste reduction.
