Mesenchymal stem cells widely distribute in human tissues, with self-renewal and multi-directional differentiation potential, and have important applications in regenerative medicine. However, there are still some limitations in the clinical application of stem cells, such as tumorigenic risk, ethics, and immune rejection, which seriously hinder the transformation of stem cell therapy. Therefore, it is an urgent need to improve stem cell therapy technology and avoid all kinds of risks and problems. It has been found that the tissue regeneration function of stem cells mainly stems from the effect of paracrine. Exosomes play an important role in regulating the function based on the effect of paracrine from stem cells. Exosomes are nanoscale liposome vesicles secreted by cells and serve as intercellular messengers that transport important cellular inclusion, thereby regulating the specific functions of the target cell. Previous studies have shown that stem cell-derived exosomes have the function of promoting the repair and regeneration of damaged tissues similar to stem cells. Stem cell-derived exosomes can promote damaged tissue repair and regeneration while avoiding the risk of direct stem cell transplantation, and have the advantage of easy storage and transportation, showing broad clinical application prospects.
