About this Research Topic
The Specialty Chief Editor, Professor Stephan Zipfel, would like to invite critical, ambitious and courageous contributions that can provide new insights and stimulate constructive debate around the following questions:
- Do mental health problems cause or contribute to physical disease such as heart disease, diabetes and asthma?
- Does timely and optimum treatment of mental health problems prevent, arrest or roll back the progression of physical disease?
- Can interventions such as hypnosis, biofeedback, behavioral modification, cognitive and relaxation therapies impact the immune system and thereby alleviate the growing list of disorders believed to have a significant inflammatory component?
To acknowledge your efforts and commitments to shaping this discussion, the Specialty Chief Editor will select and award the best article submitted to this collection. The authors of the winning paper from the Editor's Challenge in Psychosomatics will receive a waiver for the article processing charge on their next submission to Frontiers in Psychiatry.
