About this Research Topic
We are delighted to present the 2023 Frontiers in Materials “Women in Science: Materials” article collection.
At present, less than 30% of researchers worldwide are women. Long-standing biases and gender stereotypes are discouraging girls and women from entering science-related fields, STEM research in particular. However, as UNESCO has highlighted, both science and gender equality are essential to ensuring sustainable development. In order to change traditional mindsets, gender equality must be promoted, stereotypes defeated, and girls and women should be encouraged to pursue STEM careers.
Frontiers in Materials is proud to offer this platform to promote the work of women scientists in materials science and engineering. The work presented here highlights the diversity of research performed across the entire breadth of the materials science field and presents advances in theory, experiment, and methodology with applications to compelling problems.
This article collection is open for submissions across all sections of the journal.
