The main challenge of micro-nano optics and photocatalytic materials is to adopt novel methods to regulate and synthesis of micro-nano inorganic materials and heterojunctions with special structures and to gain insight into the chemical synthesis mechanism and the internal correlation mechanism between optical properties and photocatalysis. The construction of optical and photocatalytic materials with new micro and nano structures is helpful for the application of these materials in the field of environmental protection.

The rapid developments of micro-nano optics and photocatalysis are very beneficial to the synthesis and design of novel micro-nano structural materials. The novel micro-nano size materials or composites have a wide range of applications in optics and photocatalysis fields due to their excellent physical and chemical properties. Simultaneously, the special heterojunction composites designed based on band arrangement theory also perform well in the fields of optics and catalysis and become one of the main inorganic optical materials or catalysts for development. The optical properties and photocatalytic activities of micro - and nano-structured materials are strongly dependent on the synthesis method. The traditional method of trying to design new catalysts has disadvantages such as high cost and time-consuming. Therefore, the establishment of performance prediction model based on neural network algorithm can provide convenience for the search of new optical materials and catalysts.

The main purpose of this Research Topic is to explore the development of new micro/nano catalysts and new micro/nano optical materials and devices, new methods to synthesize inorganic optical materials or catalysts with special defect structures, the application of intelligent algorithms in the fields of catalysis or optoelectronic devices and explore the intrinsic correlation mechanism between optical properties and photocatalysis. Micro-nano structural materials in the field of optoelectronic devices are also very popular. Submissions of original research, mini-reviews and review paper types are welcome.
