About this Research Topic
Additive Manufacturing (AM) enables the on-demand creation of complex shapes and designs by building components and products layer-by-layer from virtual models, surpassing the limitations of conventional manufacturing methods. Digital Manufacturing (DM) integrates traditional digital technologies like Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE), and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) with modern digital technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Additive Manufacturing (AM), and Autonomous Robots, leading to more agile and flexible manufacturing processes.
While industries like aerospace, automotive, and healthcare have rapidly adopted advanced design, engineering, and manufacturing techniques, with a particular focus on AM technologies, the integration of DM technologies throughout the design-to-manufacturing process, based on AM platforms, is still an ongoing endeavor.
This Research Topic aims to explore different approaches towards achieving 'Direct Digital Manufacturing with the Use of AM Technologies.'
