About this Research Topic
This research topic aims to provide a contemporary perspective on the various therapeutic applications of metal-based compounds. The main objectives include exploring the synthesis and characterization of these compounds, understanding their biological mechanisms of action, and developing new strategies to enhance their therapeutic potential. Specific questions to be addressed include: What are the novel metal-based compounds with significant biological properties? How can these compounds be optimized to combat multidrug resistance and treat various diseases? What are the underlying mechanisms of action, and how can the pharmacokinetics and bioavailability of these drugs be improved?
To gather further insights into the therapeutic potential of metal-based compounds, we welcome original research articles, reviews, and perspective papers addressing, but not limited to, the following themes:
- Synthesis and characterization of metal-based compounds with biological properties (e.g., anticancer, antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, anti-diabetes, anti-Alzheimer)
- Novel strategies involving metal-based compounds to combat multidrug resistance issues and for the treatment of diseases
- New approaches to enhance the therapeutic potential of existing, clinically used metal-based drugs
- Mechanisms of action of metal-based compounds
- Drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK), imaging, or in vivo studies of metal-based compounds
