About this Research Topic
The goal of this Research Topic is to highlight innovative systems biology approaches and methodologies that have been employed to study psychiatric and psychological disorders. We aim to assemble a collection of high-quality research articles, reviews, and perspectives that shed light on the molecular, genetic, and environmental factors contributing to these disorders. This issue will emphasize the power of integrating multi-omic data, network-based analyses, and computational models to unravel the complexities of disease etiology and pathophysiology. Furthermore, we seek to showcase studies that not only deepen our understanding of these disorders but also contribute to the development of novel diagnostic tools and more effective, personalized treatment strategies.
We invite researchers from various disciplines, including genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology, neuroscience, and psychiatry, to submit original research articles, reviews, and perspectives addressing the application of systems biology in psychiatric and psychological disorders. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
• Multi-omic data integration for the identification of disease-associated genes, pathways, and networks
• Network-based approaches to uncover the molecular mechanisms underlying psychiatric and psychological disorders
• Development and application of computational models for disease progression and treatment response
• Systems pharmacology approaches to identify novel drug targets and personalized treatment strategies
• Integration of genetic, epigenetic, and environmental factors in disease modeling
• Development of novel diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers using systems biology approaches
• Interactions between the microbiome, immune system, and mental health
Authors are encouraged to submit their manuscripts by Jan 1, 2024. All submissions will undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the quality and relevance of the work. For more information on submission guidelines, please visit the Frontiers in Genetics website.
