About this Research Topic
Alongside the general lack of healthcare accessibility in remote regions of the Amazon, there also an excessive deficiency of healthcare professionals and supplies in these regions. This then often results in negative outcomes for patients who could have otherwise been treated successfully in more populous, urban areas with the correct and quick assistance. It is consequently quite common to observe irregular outcomes for some NTDs.
This Research Topic aims to provide a thorough report on the status of medical and health cases regarding NTDs and rare diseases within the Amazon, focusing on the different aspects of the management, treatment, and uncommon outcomes. This Research Topic welcomes Original Research, Reviews and Mini Reviews, and Case Reports.
