About this Research Topic
Multi-omics offers a strategy for discovering novel biomarkers and improving clinical decision making for patient management. Such advanced strategies can not only provide useful information for early diagnosis, prognosis, and risk stratification of CVD, but has also greatly accelerated understanding the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms and developing new therapies for treating or preventing CVD. Natural multiple bioactive compounds or extract from traditional herbal medicines are emerging as novel and alternative medical agents with multitargeted cardioprotective effects. However, it is difficult for modern medical scientists to recognize and accept their practical values. Omics strategy is an important component of systems biology, with a research idea that is similar to the overall concept of traditional medicines. Therefore, the use of high-throughput omics techniques provide great opportunities for providing effective evidence for the action mechanisms of multicomponent-based cardioprotective agents, including traditional herbal medicines.
In this Research Topic, we invite researchers to submit novel research articles, state-of-the-art reviews, and communications related to the fields of novel omics technique-based biomarkers and alternative therapies in cardiovascular disease. Such papers can focus on the application of metabolomics, proteomics, genomics, micro-biomics, and multi-omics technologies in cardiovascular outcomes after intervention, the primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases, risk stratification, traditional herbal cardioprotective medicines and more.
