About this Research Topic
This Research Topic aims to explore emerging electrochemical processes for CO2 removal and long-term storage, emphasizing the intersection of electrochemistry with negative emission technologies. While electrochemical methods have been widely studied for energy storage and CO2 conversion to valuable chemicals, their potential for CO2 removal and long-term storage is only recently gaining attention. This article collection will cover recent advances in electrochemical CO2 removal and storage approaches and their integration with renewable energy sources.
Researchers are invited to submit their original research as well as review/ perspective articles for publication in this Research Topic. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
• Advances in electrochemical systems for direct air capture of CO2
• CO2 mineralization through electrochemical processes
• Long-term storage solutions for electrochemically captured CO2
• Electrochemical carbon capture and storage (CCS) techniques
Keywords: Climate change, Electrochemical Processes, Negative Emission Technologies, Direct Air Capture, CO2 removal, CO2 mineralization
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
