Climate change poses a serious threat to plant survival, which in turn is threatening the entire biosphere including human life. Studies have been carried out on how plants will adapt to climate change, and it has been predicted most plants will likely become stressed and less productive in the future. However, there are still unanswered questions on how the intricate interactions between plant distribution, physiology, resource availability, alteration of plant communities, and other aspects may affect the overall plants in the face of climate change.

Climate change is an important driver of biodiversity loss through multiple mechanisms. Some of the effects of climate change on plant diversity include phenological changes, timberline shift, spread of invasive species, pests and diseases, habitat loss, and rises in the frequency and intensity of forest fires. Thus, climate change poses a serious threat to plant survival, which in turn poses a threat to the entire biosphere and human life. Urgent efforts are required to address this alarming situation.
