About this Research Topic
Through this Research Topic, we would like to improve our understanding of various treatment methods in removing contaminants from water bodies. Remarkably, some treatment methods consume high amounts of energy or produce the secondary pollution or sludge. The goal is to get an overview of which factors improve the treatment process with lower energy consumption and lower production of sludge. In this context, we are eager to learn how to employ different treatment process can affect water quality.
Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
Water and wastewater treatment technologies;
Recovery of resources from wastewater;
Wastewater reusing;
Sludge reduction;
Fate and removal of emerging contaminants;
Biological treatment methods;
Physicochemical treatment method;
Keywords: Water quality, Wastewater treatment, Advanced oxidation process, Anammox, Emerging contaminants, Algae-based treatment, Adsorption, Wastewater reuse
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
