About this Research Topic
The goal of this research topic is to highlight the central role of nutrition in both primary and secondary prevention of CVDs. We will focus on the latest evidence from observational and clinical studies, regarding the influence of nutrients, dietary patterns, diet quality, nutrition status on CVDs development and outcomes. We hope to showcase research progress, identify the feasibility and impact of nutritional interventions, and shed light on future directions for research.
This research topic aims to gather submissions of relevant original research, reviews, mini-reviews, meta-analysis, covering but not limited to the following themes:
● Observational studies that describe the relationship between nutrients, dietary patterns and quality, or nutrition status and the risk of development and progression of CVDs.
● Clinical trials or other designs of intervention studies exploring the impact of nutrition improvement on outcomes related to CVDs.
● Identifying novel nutritional biomarkers or prediction models for (delete the) CVD morbidity and mortality, as well as other outcomes (such as CKD, dementia, depression) in patients with CVDs.
● Reviews or meta-analyses summarizing the latest advances of the above topics.
Keywords: nutrition status, cardiovascular disease, dietary patterns, diet quality, observational study, clinical trial, basic study
Important Note: All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of the section and journal to which they are submitted, as defined in their mission statements. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
